i-Human Patients, Inc. Appoints Vinod Damodaran as Vice President of Engineering

Mammoth Lakes, CA – October 15, 2013 – i-Human Patients, Inc. (IHP) today announced the appointment of Vinod Damodaran as vice president of engineering. IHP is a developer and provider of simulation-based medical training services including their flagship i-Human Patients® cloud-based service. Damodaran has over 20 years of experience in software development and executive engineering management for a variety of Silicon Valley start-ups. As a strong technical leader, he has recruited and led both small and large engineering teams whose work spanned the full software development gamut from product conceptualization to product delivery. Damodaran will be responsible for the commercial roll-out of the i-Human Patients service and its continued development.

i-Human Patients is a cloud-based software-as-a-service that improves medical and healthcare student proficiency in patient assessment and diagnostic reasoning. Its interactive, simulated patients provide a clinical context for learning the basic sciences, including physiology, anatomy, histology, pathology, and pathophysiology. Students can access the service’s rich graphically based content via the Internet. i-Human Patients utilizes a patented competency engine to provide comprehensive feedback to students at every step in their learning process. Individual student and aggregated class analytics are available to instructors, thereby providing objective performance data to instructors. i-Human Patients contains a point-and-click authoring system to create new cases and exercises, which can be published under the Creative Commons Licensing model, thereby enabling medical educators to rapidly create, customize and share new educational content.

“Vinod brings a wealth of experience in advanced software development and engineering management to our team,” said Norm Wu, CEO of IHP. “He is a technical, hands-on leader with over 20 years of experience building enterprise and SaaS cloud-hosted systems. He has built and led teams at a number of successful Silicon Valley start-ups and is an innovative, entrepreneurial and performance-focused technology leader.”

“The service IHP is building provides incredible benefits to medical and healthcare students, helping them develop their diagnostic reasoning and patient assessment skills, so I am very excited about joining the management team,” said Vinod Damodaran. “I am eager to help them harness the latest digital content and networking technologies to deliver an effective and visually compelling educational experience that will benefit students around the world.”

Most recently Damodaran served as vice president, engineering at RiseSmart, a provider of next-generation outplacement solutions for a wide range of corporate clients. He served also as senior vice president, technology at Symphony Services and SymphonyIRI subsidiaries of Symphony TG in Palo Alto, California, where he was named the ‘Top Leader of the Year – Technology’.
